Frequently asked questions
What kind of designs are in the Hoverstate gallery?+
Real, live websites and landing pages — not mockups, template previews, or concept designs. Every entry in the gallery is a working production site that you can visit directly. We curate for quality of execution: how a site handles layout, typography, spacing, motion, and color in practice. That means you can study each design in its actual environment, including how it responds to different viewport sizes, how animations perform on real hardware, and how the design holds up when you scroll past the fold.
How is the gallery organized?+
The gallery is organized by tags — industry categories like SaaS, agency, and e-commerce; style descriptors like dark mode, minimal, and editorial; and technology labels like built with Framer or Next.js. You can combine filters, and they only show options that match actual gallery entries, so you never land on an empty result. Beyond the main gallery, there are dedicated sections for landing pages, OG images, fonts used across the gallery, and the tools and technologies behind the featured sites.
What makes a site worth featuring in Hoverstate?+
We look for sites where design decisions are intentional and worth studying. That usually means a strong point of view on layout or typography, an interesting use of motion or interaction, or an unusually clear approach to communicating a product. The site needs to be live and working — not a concept or an archived screenshot. We also look at how the design performs at different screen sizes, since responsive behavior is part of the craft. Generic template sites or sites that look polished in screenshots but feel broken in use do not make the cut.
Can I submit a design?+
Yes — anyone can submit a site for consideration through the submission form. We review every submission before it appears in the gallery. If a site is accepted, it gets tagged, categorized, and added to the relevant sections. We aim to review submissions within a few days, though response time depends on volume. If your site is not accepted, it is usually because it does not yet meet the quality bar for the gallery, or because the category is already well-covered and yours does not add something distinct.
Can I save or bookmark designs I like?+
Yes. Create a free account to like designs and bookmark them into named folders that you can revisit later. Folders are useful for grouping references by project, client, or theme — for example a folder called pricing tables or dark SaaS. Your likes also help surface the strongest work for everyone browsing the gallery, since the most-liked designs rank higher in the default sort. You can make your bookmarks and likes public or keep them private, depending on whether you want to share your references or keep them for your own use.
Do I get a public profile?+
Every account gets a public profile at hoverstate.design/u/your-username. Your profile shows the designs you have liked and the bookmark folders you have made public. This lets you share your taste and design references as a curated collection, which can be useful when working with clients or collaborators who want to understand your aesthetic sensibility. You control the visibility of each folder and your likes, so you can share some collections publicly while keeping others private.
What is the OG images section?+
The OG images section is a gallery of Open Graph images — the preview cards that appear when you share a URL on social media platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn, and iMessage. Well-designed OG images are often overlooked but matter a lot for click-through rates and brand recognition. The Hoverstate OG image gallery curates strong examples from across the web, organized by style and approach, so you can study what makes a preview card worth clicking before designing one for your own product.
What are the Claude Code skills in the gallery?+
The skills section lists reusable Claude Code skills for design and engineering workflows that are featured or used by the Hoverstate community. Claude Code skills are packaged instructions that give Claude specific capabilities in your development environment — for example a skill for auditing visual design consistency, writing accessible component markup, or generating SEO-optimized content. The skills gallery is a growing index of community-contributed skills that are useful for the kinds of work that designers and developers who care about visual quality tend to do.
How do I use Hoverstate for client work or presentations?+
The most common use case is building a reference collection before starting a project. Create a free account, browse the gallery for sites that match the direction you are aiming for, and bookmark them into a named folder. You can then share that folder link with a client or collaborator as a mood board or direction reference. Because every entry links to the live site, clients can click through to experience the design directly rather than looking at static screenshots. Some designers also use the OG images section and fonts section to research specific decisions like typeface pairings or social preview card layouts.
